Marvelous Monday: Captured Grace by Erin

Summer Berriel July 14, 2014

Happy Marvelous Monday!

One of our favorite things about this blog, is that it gives us the chance to spread the word about super talented photographers! Today is no exception!

Erin Sricharoon of Captured Grace by Erin is a very talented photographer based out of Los Angeles. She has photographed people all over Southern California and she is willing to go anywhere her work takes her!

We have had the pleasure of getting to spend some time with Erin and she is such a sweetheart. We think she is amazing! Her dedication to her photography and her clients is incredible and we are sure you are going to love her just as much as we do.

Read on to learn more about this awesome lady and her photography business!

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your business! What's your specialty?

I am married to my beloved and God’s gift to me. I am the daughter of two amazing parents, big sister to 6 siblings, 4 who are recently adopted (I love adoption!) and auntie to 2 of the most precious kids around.

I believe in Jesus. I love to smile! I love coffee and reading, even more if they occur together. Guess that explains how I met my husband in a book store.

I am a natural light portrait photographer specializing in newborns, children and families. I love kids and the creative chaos they bring to photo shoots! I live for the emotion, the moments in between the poses. I also love photographing women and really enjoy women's glamour photography. Every woman needs to be reminded of her beauty both inside and out!

Tell us about your journey! How did you get to where you are?

It has been a journey for sure! I shot film cameras growing up and I think I photographed every tree or flower in my hometown. I loved sending off rolls of film and seeing what turned out. Photography was my hobby. After college I became a middle school and high school teacher. I loved finding ways to integrate art and photography projects into my English lessons. Seeing my students lives through their lenses renewed my love for photography.

Then my nephew was born, my niece came soon after, all my friends started having kids, my siblings were adopted and suddenly kids and families were everywhere!! I could not stop documenting their love and knew I wanted to do this forever. I am currently building my business while working full time. I am so blessed to do what I love and be on this journey.

What are your favorite things about working in your field?

I love that this field is always changing, growing and developing. There is always something new to learn and master. It keeps me challenged and growing. I am so amazed by all the amazing education available, like CreativeLive, forums, Facebook groups and so many other venues. I am also so inspired by the talent in this field and the generosity of fellow photographers. They are truly special people.

I also absolutely love getting invited into the lives of the families I photograph. To make a connection when a family is anticipating their little addition and then to watch them grow up is priceless!

What are some of your plans/goals for the future?

Career wise my goals are to continue to push myself to grow and truly master my craft. I am working on building a strong foundation to my new business and I would love to open a natural light studio one day.

Personally, my husband and I are looking forward to starting our own family soon (possibly adopting) and I can't wait to see where God leads us. For now I am loving being a big sister and auntie!

Marvelous Monday: Strawberry D'Lish Pinups

Summer Berriel July 7, 2014

Happy Marvelous Monday! We have a very fabulous Inland Empire photographer to introduce you to today: Angelica Gutierrez Luna of Strawberry D'Lish Pinups! That's right, we said PINUPS! Pinup photography is such a beautiful form of expression, not to mention how incredible silly and fun it can be! Angelica is one of the best in the pinup biz. We are big fans of her work! It is always so fresh and vibrant! Totally cheesecake!

Angelica is not only a talented photographer, but she also had mad hair and makeup skills. She has helped us out with a few of our events and we are always blown away by her talent. Read on to learn more.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your business! What's your specialty?

My specialty is Pinup Photography but I offer makeup and hair as well for all occasions. And I love working with women of all sizes!

Tell us about your journey! How did you get to where you are?

Strawberry D'Lish started about four years ago. At the time I was just the hair and makeup girl and I had a different photographer. We only had about two sessions and I was excited about it! I asked if I could try shooting and I knew I had to take over and do it myself! I became more satisfied with the shots I had taken. So from then on I bought a camera and studied. Summer Shea help me out a lot with getting to know my camera and I love her for that!!

What are your favorite things about working in your field?

My most favorite things about working in this field is meeting ALL the wonderful people I have, also just being involved in events, as well as helping out other businesses. It's just awesome! I'm just having a wonderful time doing what I'm doing!

What are some of your plans/goals for the future?

I realized you could never stop learning how to do what you love! I want to get it right! My plans and goals are to practice, practice, practice!

We know you want to see more of what Strawberry D'Lish has to offer, so be sure to follow her on Facebook and Instragram. You can get in touch with Angelica by emailing her at angelicaluna50@yahoo.com.

Marvelous Monday: Sunshine Avenue Photography

Summer Berriel June 30, 2014

It's Marvelous Monday and we have a fabulous photographer to spotlight today! Giselle Christinson of Sunshine Avenue Photography is a super awesome Inland Empire and Orange County photographer. She is crazy talented and she can seriously rock both studio set-ups and outdoor photo sessions.

Giselle took the time to answer a few of our questions recently. We are so excited to introduce you to this awesome, talented lady! Read on to learn more about Giselle and her business.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your business! What's your specialty?

I started learning about photography in 2012 and have not put my camera down since. THERE IS SO MUCH TO LEARN AND EXPLORE! I enjoy shooting in Natural light and Studio. I currently do not have a specialty. I pretty much enjoy all aspects of photography—I will never be bored—I want to do it all. My goal is to one day become a wedding photographer.

Tell us about your journey! How did you get to where you are?

I was put on bed rest with my 3rd child at 32 weeks. I thought to myself, what the heck am I going to do to remain sane...lol. I was pretty much married to my laptop for 8 weeks. I decided to take my first photography course at West Virginia University. I never knew that photography could be so complicated. I was up for the challenge—I'm a techy at heart.

Since then, I have been photographing my 3 girls... they make the best models. As I learn more, I become more and more hooked. There is no turning back now, I have a new found passion! So glad that I discovered it at a time in my life when there is so much to document both personally and professionally.

What are your favorite things about working in your field?

My favorite thing(s) are capturing candid moments. I love documenting life and shooting at different locations. I also like the adrenaline rush I get as I fumble through my camera settings for the perfect exposure. I remember trying not to lay on the grass as a child because it made me itch like hell. Those days are long gone. On weekends, you can find me laying in my yard with my macro lens photographing ants, dandelions, and blades of grass. Wouldn't trade it for the world—it sure as heck beats my desk job.

When I am outdoors, I wonder how the heck I overlooked sunlight, fields, clouds, and pretty much anything that would lend itself to a perfect location (photo shoot). I seriously have never spent so much time admiring my surroundings, like now....I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER! I'm very proud to say that.

What are some of your plans/goals for the future?

My future plans as aforementioned, to become a wedding photographer, to be fearless, to be able to tackle any and all lighting situations.

Check out more incredible work by Giselle by visiting her site, Sunshine Avenue Photography, and liking her Facebook page. You can also get in touch with her by e-mailing sunshineavenuephotography@yahoo.com.

Marvelous Monday: oh so photo

Summer Berriel June 23, 2014
ohsophoto7.jpg

Happy Marvelous Monday! Today we have a super rad photographer to introduce you to! Tara of oh so photo is an incredible photographer based out of Portland, Oregon.

Tara is also willing to travel and she is looking forward to shooting a wedding and some sessions this summer in Michigan!

We have had the pleasure of working with Tara while photographing a few weddings in the past, and we can tell you this, she is crazy talented, super fun and way hilarious! We have seen her in action, so we know firsthand how amazing she is, but don't just take our word for it.

Read on to learn more about Tara and oh so photo.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your business! What's your specialty?

Hey guys! I'm Tara. I live in beautiful Portland, Oregon with my family. I love coffee, traveling, traveling for photography, 80s music, IPAs, my Kindle, Michigan, my minivan and pedicures. In my business, I concentrate on families, newborns and a limited number of engagements/weddings per year. I like to shoot families with a mix of posed and more lifestyle images. I enjoy the challenges that come with shooting families in their homes, their most personal space!

Tell us about your journey! How did you get to where you are?

I started shooting about 5 years ago and started portfolio building in 2011. I quickly learned I had some more learning to do! and I will always be learning. The best way to learn is to shoot, shoot, shoot. Say yes to lots of things! Even if they scare you. That is the best kind of fear. It makes you grow and get better. Even if you suck. Thats okay, at least you tried. I also did a lot of learning through Clickin' Moms and CreativeLive and connecting with other photographers. After I worked on my portfolio, I legitimately opened my business and have just been going from there. I like to still do an occasional portfolio building session now just for me. I was lucky enough to meet some amazing photographers who shared their knowledge with me. Now I like to share my knowledge with others who can use it. Its a great way to build community and pay it forward!

What are your favorite things about working in your field?

I love meeting new clients and learning about their lives and then delivering them great images. I also love meeting other photographers and being able to go to conferences and learning more. There are so many different ways to run a photography business and shoot period that it is always cool to see what other people are doing. But you have to be careful that you don't get too wrapped up in comparing yourself to others. Its a balancing act.

What are some of your plans/goals for the future?

My goals for the future are to take more risks. Shoot more for myself. Delve into food photography. Rent a natural light studio for mini-sessions. Make quantifiable monthly and quarterly goals. Also, I want to shift from selling mainly digital files to doing in person ordering sessions as I think these really benefit the client. I think some of these will be able to happen in the next few months and some will happen after my youngest goes to kindergarten next year and I have a little more time for myself.

Learn more about oh so photo and feast your eyes on some gorgeous images, by visiting ohsophoto.com! Follow Tara on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, too!

Marvelous Monday: Jay Williams Photography

Summer Berriel June 16, 2014

Happy Marvelous Monday! We have a super talented person to introduce you to today! Jay Williams of Jay Williams Photography is an incredible photographer based in Southern California.

(Heads up, though! He is willing to travel wherever his work takes him... so don't worry if you're not in California. He'll come to you!)

We had Jay answer a few questions for us to help you all get to know him a little bit better. We have had the pleasure of hanging out with Jay and not only is he one of the sweetest, coolest guys in the photography industry, but we also think his work is spectacular! And we are absolutely positive you are all going to agree!

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your business! What's your specialty?

I like sushi, kettle corn, listen to lots of music, and love Jesus Christ with all my heart. I am a photographer specializing in weddings and cinema. I would describe my work as clean, vibrant and personal. I provide my clients with individual attention and strive to exceed their expectations.

Tell us about your journey! How did you get to where you are?

My journey began when I took a photography class in high school. My photography teacher believed in me enough to tell me I could possibly make a career out of it. After high school, I saved up for my first DSLR and did just about everything I could do to learn how to use it. While doing that, I was given the opportunity to shoot some weddings with my friend Scott. At first, I thought wedding photography was intimidating and I almost gave up. Thankfully I didn't and began to see how creative I could be, and how important these photographic memories are to the couples. I never pass up an opportunity to learn and observe from other photographers.

What are some of your future plans/goals?

My goal is to continue to grow my business and photograph or film 40+ wedding per year. I would like to have a staff of regular associate photographers and editors.

What are your favorite things about working in your field?

Some of my favorite things about photographing weddings are I get to meet amazing people, I'm able to express my creativity on a regular basis, I get to tell the couple's once in a lifetime story in pictures or cinema, and travel to different locations. Eating the different types of wedding cakes is also a perk of doing weddings.

Not only is Jay an awesome photographer (as you can see!) but he is also a talented videographer. We have been left in tears after seeing some of his work! Grab your tissues and check this video out!
